Light is the element.
The subject, either persons or objects, to a lesser extent.
If the production of a photographic image is primarily derived from research and control of 'field of light', then the final result is really just the reproduction of a specific object within its luminous setting.
With a few exceptions, i.e. the sunlight setting against a landscape in the background, the luminous element in which our world is completely plunged, is the essential ingredient and obviously it disappears as soon as awareness arises, as it happens with things we have to lose before appreciating them. Like water for caught fish.
I never lost the light, but I found it again.
Now, it's the main character of my pictures which I set by using different backgrounds, persons, architectures, industrial products to make them unique glowing with 'reflected glory'.
L'elemento è la luce.
Il soggetto, indifferentemente una persona o una cosa.
Se il percorso di realizzazione di una immagine fotografica nasce dallo studio e dal controllo del campo luminoso, all'opposto, il prodotto finale è usufruibile come la riproduzione di un determinato oggetto e della sua ambientazione luminosa.
Con poche eccezioni, ad esempio della luce del sole che tramonta sul paesaggio che le fa da sfondo, l'elemento luminoso in cui è immerso tutto il nostro mondo è l'ingrediente indispensabile ed ovvio che sparisce alla consapevolezza, come le tante cose che dobbiamo perdere per apprezzare. Come l'acqua per il pesce pescato.
Non ho mai smarrito la luce ma l'ho ritrovata. Ora, è la protagonista delle mie fotografie che ambiento utilizzando scenari diversi, persone, architetture, prodotti industriali, con l'intento di renderli unici nel loro brillare di "luce riflessa".
Something about me.
I’ve been doing professional photography since
1984.
I took my first steps in this field by doing
photographs for naturalistic reportages which have been published in the
Italian magazine «Scienza & Vita Nuova» (Rusconi Ed.).
In the following intense years (1989-1992) I
devoted myself to socio-political reportages commissioned by some of the major
Italian photojournalistic agencies such as Prisma PhotoPress, Gamma Paris and
Contrasto. Highlight of this period in my career was the chance to document the
Serbian-Croatian war through my lenses.
Besides, those were also the years when I started
working in advertising, producing brochures, ad campaigns and industrial
monographs. At that time I was determined to introduce photojournalism inside
the world of advertising and, by 1992 (till 1997), it became my exclusive
occupation.
Alongside
my advertising activity, from 1998 I’ve been exploring the art of portraits
photography (mostly of sportsmen, athletes and artists), I’ve been shooting
architecture (interiors, exteriors, famous – or unknown – buildings everywhere)
and I’ve also been following the most important cycling races for professionals
in the world, as a photo reporter for national and European magazines.
Qualcosa su di me.
Sono un fotografo professionista dal 1984.
Nei primi anni della mia attività ho prodotto reportage naturalistici che sono stati pubblicati sulla rivista «Scienza & Vita Nuova» (Rusconi Ed.).
Durante l'intenso periodo tra il 1989 e il 1992, mi sono dedicato al reportage socio-politico collaborando con alcune delle maggiori agenzie fotogiornalistiche italiane quali Prisma PhotoPress, Gamma Paris, Contrasto, collaborazioni che mi hanno permesso di realizzazione, tra gli altri, alcuni reportage sul conflitto Serbo-Croato.
Parallelamente ho iniziato un’attività pubblicitaria (divenuta esclusiva nel periodo 1992-1997) per la produzione di brochure, campagne stampa e monografie industriali, con l’intento di introdurre il fotogiornalismo nella pubblicità. Dal 1998 ho iniziato anche a produrre ritratti (prevalentemente di personaggi sportivi e artisti), servizi fotografici di architettura e più volte sono stato reporter al seguito delle maggior gare ciclistiche per professionisti (tra le quali il Giro d'Italia), collaborando con riviste nazionali ed europee.
